here's a great recipe for memphis soul stew....
if you don't know king curtis, from fort worth texas, you should check him out.
curtis was a sax player, best know for his riffs on such tunes as "yakety yak" (the coasters) and the tune featured here. one of king curtis's most popular original tunes is call "soul serenade". it's a heart warming song...that was played by duane/the allman brothers on august 26, 1971 at the fillmore east as a tribute to curtis who was killed 13 days earlier (on W. 86th St., NYC). the blistering notes from duane's guitar playing "soul serenade" in the memory of his recently lost friend is enough to move you to tears.
