the editor/staff of OALNYC are officially supporting Steve Guttenberg in this upcoming season of Dancing with the STARS.
the actor is commonly known as irreverant misfit turned honorable and respected police officer Carey Mahoney in the Police Academy franchise.
OALNYC will be watching and reporting closely on Steve's progress (and impending success) on Dancing with the STARS, similar to how he won the hearts and respect of Cmndt Lassard and his fellow recruits in Police Academy. check back during the season for updates and commentary.
here's some things you may not have known about Steve:
- Graduated From Plainedge High School in 1976 in North Massapequa, New York
- In two decades of stardom in both critical and box-office hits, Guttenberg has been the above-the-title star of six films that earned over $100,000,000 in the United States, a feat accomplished by relatively few superstars
-He has also starred in four film franchises, appearing in such sequeled smash hits as Cocoon (1985), 3 Men and a Baby (1987), Police Academy (1984), and Short Circuit (1986), taking his films' box-office grosses into the billions.
- Turned down the role of Josh in Big (1988), a role that eventually went to Tom Hanks.
- Turned down the role of Dr. Peter Venkman in Ghost Busters (1984) in favor of playing Carey Mahoney in Police Academy (1984).

Thank you for getting behind stevie. He is the last of the true stars left. I guess now the show can really live up to it's name "dancing with the STARS" (lol)
You mentioned some of his well know works, but to a laymen(yes please!)who may not follow SG career, may not know that he has done other critically acclaimed works. Please tell you readers to check out "p.s. your cat is dead" "heidi for paws" and most of all "zeus and roxanne" the story of a dolphin and dog that fall in love while at the same time dog owner(sg) and the oceanographer both of whom are fresh off divorces and are both affraid to get thier feet wet(pun intended) (lol) also fall for one another. Sg shines in any role as the good guy or the man in shinnning armour(anytime.wink wink)..i expect him to be the brightest star shinning on DWTS!! peace,equallity,and love LJ.
